Flush mount ceiling fan, get rid of the downrod
If your ceiling height clearance is limiting your ceiling fan options, that's probably the first sign you need a flush mount ceiling fan. Not all fans are created alike; they need to match your ceiling height for maximum efficiency. Hence the existence of downrods, so you can place them at the right height, no matter how high the ceiling is.
In this case however, we're talking about the opposite: not enough height. So, what can be done if you have a low ceiling? It's simple, just get rid of the downrod. You'll get a flush mount design that will fit any ceiling height. Some brands and models offer a tri-mount system that allows you to install the fan in every type of ceiling: high, low, and angled. That gives you the best chance to mount the fan wherever you like.
A flush mount fan brings the ceiling fans to places you didn't think possible. You no longer have to worry with a ceiling fan getting within reach of a person's hand. With its short height, even the lowest ceilings will still have the necessary clearance for safety reasons. Now, just turn it on and enjoy the breeze.
