Ceiling fan switch, where it all leads to
No matter what kind of ceiling fan you have, there's a common element to all: the ceiling fan switch. Whether you control it by remote controlled fan or a pull chain, there's always a switch you need to toggle to turn it on and off. The most common are the pull chain and the wall switch.
Being an electric device, every ceiling fan has a switch. And although a switch is not a likely component to fail, even if it does, you'll be able to find a replacement part easily and cheaply. If, on the other hand, you have a more complex control system (like a remote control or full home automation system) then you may end up spending a little more.
If you need a Ceiling fan switch allowing for various fan speeds, than make sure you're using an approved switch from the same brand and model as your ceiling fan. Using an incorrect switch might damage your ceiling fan, and even cause a fire hazard. You should not mess with that : it's not worth the risk. You better spend a little bit more, and have the peace of mind of having everything working properly. Besides, this is a very rare problem and you should not experience it for a very long time.
