How did we get into writing a site about ceiling fans? It started when we decided to do some remodeling of our existing home and wanted to update the ceiling fans that were in the house. Most of the fans were still functioning moderately well, but due to the house being built in the 60's, and the ceiling fans, well actually for the most part, everything in the house was the original put in. But the ceiling fans were what we decided to tackle first.  They need to be update - some for asthetics, most for efficiency reasons, and some for mechanical reasons - a couple had the chains broken off and the lights not working on them, and one was extremely loud and being in the bedroom that would definitely not do. So just change them out : right? Well it was not so easy. Ceiling Fans have changed a lot since they first came out : and though they are much friendlier now, we had to learn a bit since we were trying to retrofit new ones into the old electrical boxes and make then work. And another concern was to stay within the design of the house.

So we started gathering information, visiting hundreds of show homes and  hardware stores, reading books and brochures, and contacting manufacturers to understand how to do this changeover easily and economically. And that is how we got started into understanding the world of ceiling fans : which is a larger area than we could have ever imagined. And to be honest, it actually was very interesting. A whole look of a room can be changed with the right ceiling fan and lightening effects added in. We also now understanding the mechanics behind these common and usually ignored fixtures, we have cut our heating and air-conditioning bills down drastically. So it was definitely time well spent and a win-win situation. And that information that we collected now composes this website.
